I have a toilet that we are looking to remove and cap = can you tell me what i have to do to make sure the drain pipe is capped and stays capped ( will be under a new tile floor ! )
I assume your talking about the waste line.
At your local hardware store you can get an expandable test plug for about 7 dollars - 4 pounds.
Measure the inside of the pipe for the pipe size, it will either be 3 or 4 inch. If the pipe is black ABS plastic they have glue in test caps, about 25 cents, and you just break the center back out when ready to install toilet. If there is no problem with water backing up in it then just wad up an old towel and stuff in it, the only thing you are stopping is the odor from coming in the house and debris from falling in it.
Happy plumbing,
Hi my toilet is leaking on the right side of the base.I put my carpet down and notice it is wet on the right size.I have put a new wax ring size 10 and a new plange, but is still doing the same. How do I know what size wax ring I need. Can it be that the wax ring is to big?Thank you very much. You can email me at the above email address.
